Election Day
I think it is very important that everyone votes, but I think that it is even more important that people have an educated vote. It is our responsibility to be informed about the issues and stances of candidates and go to the polls. =)

What has worked best for me in class is group disscussions, I like to hear others opinions and insight. The least effective thing in class would probably be peer editing days because I feel they are not that helpful. Probably because we do not try that hard. However, I think that the letter version of peer editing worked best. I do feel prepared for the assignments, the book examples are very helpful as well as examples from class. Some advise I would give to students taking Engish 151 next quarter is to do the assignments, turn them in on time, make sure you are clear on what the assignment is, read Cion and have fun.

Essay 1 Reflection
I thought this essay was somewhat challenging, I felt like I did not have much to say about the article. Also, it was difficult for me to make it four pages. However, I think it was a good experience because it made me think about what I believe about anti-male bias and it made me aware of this issue in the English language.
I feel I did best on the body paragraphs in my essay because I gave different example throughout it to support my beliefs about August's article.
I wish I could have spent more time on making it a little longer and making it feel more structured. I do not have that much experience with summary/strong response essays therefore I felt that my paper was just random thoughts thrown together.
The hardest part was coming up with multiple points that went against the grain and with the grain of August's essay. It would be easy if I just needed a couple but once again I did not feel like there was a lot to say without being repetitive.
I do feel like I put forth the expected effort, I tried to make the essay flow and complete the requirements. In addition, I tried to make my essay grammatically correct.
I feel my essay deserves a "B" because it is not completely four pages and I do not know if it us structured as well as it should be. But, I do feel it is pretty well written.

Topic for Exploratory Essay
My topic for our exploratory essay is, Academic Integrity. Which is a big issue in Intercollegiate Athletics today.
Cion Theme
A major theme I see developing has to do with the relationship between the past and the 21st century. Even though I am not to far into the book, there have been major ties between the two worlds. For example, the book is alternating chapters, one about present day Athens and the other about the Underground Railroad. Although, I am not sure what exactly the theme is, I would venture to say Mda is trying to show that these different time periods are more alike then we as readers assume.

Free-Writing
The last thing that I wrote that I was proud of was last year in English. We had to write a Senior Memory Book. It was fifteen chapters, and they ranged from childhood, favorite movies, first loves, vacations, senior year and many more topics. I liked it because it was a free write with no real constrictions. We also had to provide three pictures that went along with the chapter and at the end of the year all of our essays and pictures were bound together in a book for us to keep.

Summary
I have decided to write my paper on the Real Men Don't essay. I chose this essay because I thought it has more substance and more to write about. I plan to respond to it by disagreeing with some of its content although the piece of literature does have some strong points. I also plan to highlight some points not mentioned in the article.
Summary:
Real Men Don't: Anti Male Bias in English by Eugene R. August is a strong opinion essay on how men in America have an unfair bias surrounding them. Most people are aware of the sexist language used against women but many people are either unaware or immune to sexist language used against men. August points out that the media has a huge influence on male bias. Furthermore, he goes on to point out and explain bias in young boys and works up to bias in adults. Finally, August suggest men can shape themselves into what society tells them they are, therefore why do we keep suggesting that they are the enemy.
