Out of Class #2

"The more we make men the enemy, the more they will have to behave like the enemy". From Warren Farrell in Why Men Are the Way They Are.

To be honest this essay kind of bothered me, it made it seem like the whole world is out to get every male on the planet. I thought it was very one sided, which was the point of the essay but it seemed very extreme with the examples. For instance, when the essay refers to men being murders, I bet the statistics show that the majority are men, not saying women do not commit those crimes. In addition, I chose this particular quote because I do not think men or anyone has to behave a certain way. Also, every race, sex, age group has some type of bias that is associated with it, I think it is just the world we live in and we are never going to be bias free.

"... in mixed company, men are boring."

This information was very surprising to me, I have never really thought about men vs women is the boring department. I do agree that women tend to get more personal and men are usually just talk about business. Another part of the text that caught my attention was the split genders at the party and the part about women listening and responding to the person who is doing the talking. However, this did not strike me has surprising because it is something that is more easily seen at a party or function.
